From a young age I have always wanted to be an artist and my family and I feel proud and honored to be able to carry on our family tradition." Made Suardika hails from a family steeped in an artistic tradition going back for many generations. Made, the second child in his family, studied and apprenticed as a sculptor under his Uncle in his home village of Gianyar. He has since passed his teachings on to his two brothers Wayan and Ketut who now sculpt together at their family home. Their passion for fine craftsmanship and attention to detail is evident in each piece they sculpt. Made, married with two children, holds a strong leadership position in his village. As a locally renowned carver he is looked up to by many young aspiring artists here in Bali and often brings on apprentices at his workshop.
